I have been an 'anti-Orkut' creature for long. But today I came across a new feature in Orkut what I found quite interesting. Orkut now allows you to send messages (more popularly known as scraps) in your regional language.
Now, this is something I have waited for long. The new feature is a gift (especially) for those who type Malayalam in English (eg: aliya sukham aano?) It automatically converts it to proper Malayalam (see image below). That's pretty nice. Orkut is undergoing a lot of transformations for the good. It maybe because they realised that they have a huge user base in countries like India. And what's more? Recently Orkut was chosen as 'The best social neworking site in India'.
But Orkut isn't the best among the whole lot of social networking sites. However, from the recent changes they made, its evident that the team behind it badly wants to increase its user base. Social networking websites are supposed to be 'the next big thing' on the web. Why? Because every person can actually use the web instead of browsing the web. There is more interaction than ever before. People can communicate and share ideas better and faster. More about Social Networking later.
Until then, keep smiling!
